About Us

Covering a jurisdiction of approximately 48 square miles, located in the Northwest corner of Lancaster County PA. The Northwest Lancaster County Regional Police Department is responsible for police services for the second-class Townships of West Donegal and Mount Joy.  The department was formed on October 1, 2003 when the two townships made the progressive decision to merge their existing police departments. The Regional Police department is governed by a board of five commissioners, who are elected officials from each of the two municipalities. The municipalities rotate having the three-member majority on a yearly basis.

Our jurisdiction is a diverse community which includes, Agricultural, Industrial, residential, and business districts. We serve a population of approximately 20,000 residents, but due to our location bordering Dauphin and Lebanon Counties we experience a high influx of people travelling through our area every day. We have a robust community which is one of the fastest growing in the state and is on track to remain that way for many years to come. Our community is very supportive of our efforts and our mission to provide safety and improved quality of life through excellence in policing.

NWLCRPD is currently composed of 20 Full-time Police officers which includes our Chief, three Sergeants, and three Detectives. We also have a K9 handler and one of our officers is currently assigned to the Lancaster County Drug Task Force. Our department strongly encourages career development and specialization, and we have officers who participate on County teams including The Northwest CRASH team, SERT, Computer Crimes Task force, and the Human Trafficking Task force. Our department has its own Drone program and several officers are certified pilots. Additionally, officers are encouraged to develop instructor skills in order to assist the department with our own in-house training in Firearms, Defensive Tactics, Less Lethal, Rapid Deployment, and First Aid.
